Cup Final Win for Coyotes

INKBERROW EAGLES V DROITWICH SPA COYOTES – 23rd March 2014

MATCH REPORT

This was a game that was made to be a memorable occasion for both teams who have been locked together in both the league and cup for the last 2 seasons.

The game started evenly for the first 5 minutes, then during a good piece of play from Layla Hart a great cross was sent into the Inkberrow  penalty area then following the defensive clearance the ball fell to Ava Stephens who took no time to fire a half volley from the edge of the area that was saved by the Inkberrow goal keeper, This resulted in the first corner of the game, from the corner Layla Hart sent a low ball to the near post only for this to be turned away by the Inkberrow defence.

Inkberrow then slowly increased in confidence and tested the Droitwich Goal keeper Elizabeth kindness who was keenly off her line to gather the ball, moments later the ball was sent up field by Yazmin Bryant, this  caused confusion in the Inberrow half only for the fox in the box Rebecca Finch to turn and put the ball in the back of the net from close range 1-0 Droitwich Spa Coyotes, at this point Sam Gandy (coach) decided to replace the tireless Jess Rew after her usual hard work on the left with Mia Bowen, this just enhanced the pressure on Inkberrow for the next 5 minutes, Ava Stephens was then replaced by Sasha Kemp, in the 18th minute again Inkberrow launched an attack that saw Lizzy Kindness again bought into action as she cleverly turned what looked like a certain goal into a tip over the cross bar which conceded a corner.
Inkberrow always looked dangerous from set pieces but again Yazmin Bryant was on hand to head ball away.
Rebekah Dolphin then replaced the goal scorer Rebecca Finch.
Rebekah Dolphin had a smart turn and shot gathered by the Inkberrow goal keeper, the ball was then played out from Inkberrow at the back only for Sasha kemp to be fouled. From the resulting free kick Layla Hart smashed a left foot shot against the post Rebekah Dolphin continued to cause the Inkberrow a concern by playing the ball wide to Sasha Kemp who pushed the ball too far only to lose it to a goal kick. Finally the half time whistle came.

With no changes at half time by Droitwich,Inkberrow pushed to try and get an early goal only to find a stubborn Droitwich defence, Rebekah Dolphin was then replaced by Jess Rew and Sasha Kemp was withdrawn due to Injury and replaced by Ava Stephens, Mia Bowen was also rested after a lot of running at either side of the half.

Droitwich continued to play very pleasing football and stifled the opposition for long periods. During the whole of the game there was a consistent battler on the pitch in the form of Leah Heath who while under pressure for long periods of the game never put a foot wrong and looked a class defender.

With only 5 minutes left on the clock Inberrow caused confusion in the Droitwich half and saw what can only be described as the save of the game. Once again Lizzy kindness who was no more than a spectator during the second half made the save of the game by again defying everything to ensure she pushed the certain goal bound effort round the top of the goal.
Inkberrow tried in vain to break down the Droitwich defence and had nothing more than a couple of half chances, suddenly the final whistle and a sigh of relief from Sam Gandy and Richard Hart came and the celebrations began.

Well done to the Coyotes for a well deserved win.
